This RPI programme has been the most informative learning I have done in a while. The facilitators and mentors have been very willing to assist and explain expectations to me (in simple terms!!)
There have been a few highlights along the way:
The 5 Pillars of of Practice are a good visual to keep somewhere handy as they do succinctly link the important aspects of a successful Reading environment where we can continue to try to improve reading outcomes for our children.
Finally, because I am a visual learner myself, I loved the Create and Share days best. For children to have the opportunities to express themselves to an authentic audience that can respond and comment positively. I plan to go back over my saved 'nuggets' and continue to implement them in my classroom as much as possible. Thank you very much to Naomi, Georgi and definitely my mentor, Kiri who went beyond the call of duty at times to help me out.

ReplyDeleteA huge congratulations on completing the Manaiakalani Reading Practice Intensive 2025 and for your many contributions to our breakout group, and the cohort as a whole! Our facilitation team have been blown away by your increasing confidence with all the digital tools and approaches you were introduced to along the journey. We have also appreciated your great sense of humor and willingness to always give things a go!
It is very rewarding for us to hear that you have found the RPI programme worthwhile and that you have many “nuggets” bookmarked, ready to pull out when you need! Yes indeed, Kiri is such a fabulous mentor and as you say, goes above and beyond with her support and expertise.
All the very best for the future and do continue to keep Regan on his toes!! Lol!

Kia ora Justine,
ReplyDeleteHave been enjoying catching up on your RPI journey and would have to agree with Naomi it has been awesome to see your confidence grow. I have seen you harnessing this new learning in the classroom, in your practice and the opportunities you are empowering for your learners. Agree with you, they do enjoy the opportunities to create! You highlighted how creating in response to learning enables them to think more deeply and in new and different ways. I found myself nodding too as I read your reflections about combining Science and Technology with the Arts.
The tools to learn, create and share have never been more accessible!
Congratulations on completing and contributing so actively to the RPI.
Ngā mihi,
Fiona
Kia ora Justine,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on completing the RPI learning program! The reflections you've shared are insightful and it's great to hear how much you valued the support from the facilitators and mentors. This looks like a great way to continue to improve reading outcomes for students.
HI Justine, It has been so lovely to connect with you over the RPI. I have to thank you so much for your openness and willingness to have me in your space. I have loved the opportunity to get back into a school environment. You under estimate your wonderful abilities and I think have really made the most of the learning through this PD. Please reach out if I can help in any way going forward. Kiri
